Carolina Downhome Blues Festival

September 29, 2011

Shrimp City Slim and Wanda Johnson are just two of the wide variety of blues performers at this year's festival

The Carolina Downhome Blues Festival, held in Camden, is celebrating its fifteenth anniversary this year from October 6 through 8, with 44 performances at 15 different sites by 22 different performers. The $35 Weekend pass (Thursday-Saturday) is the best deal.  Daily admission is $10 Thursday, $15 Friday, and $15 Saturday.

The Carolina Downhome Blues Festival, presented by the Fine Arts Center of Kershaw County, has slated another stellar line-up of blues performances.   Once again, this year’s festival has something for all blues tastes. On the acoustic side, Delta Blues, Piedmont Blues, and Country Blues are all represented. Add in electric Chicago Blues, Blues Rock, and danceable Lowcountry Blues, and you have a truly remarkable mix of blues music. Most performances are within walking distance in a relaxed pub/restaurant crawl atmosphere, with a few nightclub and dancehall sites mixed in. The 15th annual Carolina Downhome Blues Festival is an event not to be missed.
